Hello Paddlers of the Past and Future 7:54AM MondayAfter being gouged for five dollars for parking by the lovely young lady in the pick-up truck at Yates Park, things got better. We had a 2.29 level of clear water, blue skies and sun. The portage causing river wide jam down stream from Rochester Road was there as expected, but others before had worked on it. Our group cut a way though river left under the main log, at any level higher than about 3 feet this passage way would not be a pleasant option. Unsurprisingly the Last Jam-Vortex of Death was blocked, fortunately we had enough gas for the chain saw and enough Budweiser for the job and were able to cut a passage though on river right. We ran into two previously unknown young men paddling a canoe, they were standing on Rock Island enjoying the therapeutic benefits of having immersing them self's in the MCR's healing waters. Also, on Rock Island, we ran into and were passed by four other kayaker's on this list. Two other kayaks landed after us bring a total of 13 other boater's on the river while we made our A&L to Yates run. Of the 13, three were Skiwi's. I did not have my camera and I would like to thank the cameraman for taking the high resolution pictures.(YB!) I think this was trip five of 2009? Two of us so far, are planning to paddle Tuesday during the day, perhaps launching at Alburn & Squirrel Road, contact me for details. In conclusion, it was a great day out there and their are no portage causing log jams between Avon-Livernois and Yates as of 3:00PM Sunday.

Talk to you later.
